SALAMANCA
PATIO DE LAS
ESCUELAS MENORES

Patio of the Minor Schools

The Minor Schools were built in the 1,428, and they house the patio seen in this picture, of great simplicity and purity. They form a monument of typical Salmantine flavor. The façade of this building is of plateresc style, more rudimentary than the University’s. The patio was imitated in others around the city. The banisters which characterize it are of exquisite baroque identity. Its entrance is made up of two equilateral arches resting over a column of Corinthian volute. In its superior part, three imperial shields, representing the power of the Emperor Charles V.
